How does the mod work?
as of right now, the mod contains 30 new pieces of gear. more content is planned for later, like new maps, weapons, and both squid roll and surge.

Any possibility of adding Octolings and not just replacing the Inkling model?

@Scaphandre Depends on if the devs are planning on it or not. The mod DOES work with RivalUnpatch though, a mod that restores Splat 1's unused playable Octolings instead of reskinning the inklings. I posted a tutorial on here for how to use it.
