Honestly, for only Virtual Console the Wii had the most platforms avaliable, it even had Commodore 64. Now for compatibility at all, the Wii U wins, it can run every Nintendo console released except the 3DS and Switch consoles.

@Luis64 i agree. the fact that you can get ds games on the wii u virtual console is incredible, also in wii mode couldnt it just access the wii virtual console when the wii shop was up?
The Wii had more games but Wii U got the first two Earthbounds. (Thank God for the OG Miiverse.)
