If you have a modded 3DS, it is possible to get the data, in principle. But I'm not sure if there are any ready-made tools for that. At any rate, I would just hold on to the data until you can get it out. It can't hurt to keep it around.
Are you playing on a different 3DS? I know a System Transfer will let you use the the old data on a new 3DS.
