I recently tested my Wii U on a CRT TV via my Wii's AV cable, and... yeah, it looks decent, specially in games like Pikmin 3, but as the Wii U was made with HD TVs in mind, the screen was cropped compared to the NES Jr./SNES/N64/GameCube/Wii which fitted the entire screen

Yeah, the Wii U is definitely a widescreen system. I was dissapointed, but it makes sense that they'd want the TV to match the gamepad. Still, would be nice if Youtube and Minecraft worked on 4:3 considering it worked on other systems with AV.
