Install USB loader GX, get your (totally legal) roms, and use a wad forwarder to get those roms onto the Wii home menu screen.
BootMii and Priiloader are MUST-HAVES to avoid accidental bricking. Besides that, definitely get WiiLink if you want the online stuff like the Check Mii Out Channel or the Food Channel to work.
