I guess your pc was acting up because of the summer heat, causing your pc to work overtime to cool down. Tho it really depends on the type of pc and what game you're playing. A good pc shouldn't be affected to the point you notice it lagging.
yes, you should also download some more ram from this site that looks like its from the 2000's seriously, it was probably because of the heat. you should also clean your fans to make sure no overheating happens.
