Juxt is a weird middle ground social media. not super feature packed but still quite addicting. that kind of worries me for our future. maybe I'm projecting, but I'm here, at midnight, on this silly green and purple app instead of sleeping like I know I should... 1/3

it does feel like that
true
and I know I'm not the only one. I love this place but I'm also scared. it's becoming more like every other platform to me - another thing I look at for a dopamine hit. worse, it is so easily accessible because a gaming console isn't usually associated with social media 2/3
if Juxt is going to be a modern reimagining of Miiverse then it needs to keep up with the modern expectations of being a social media platform, which includes some kind of screen time management beyond Nintendo's existing all-encompassing Parental Controls :/ 3/3
Instagram and YouTube both have okay examples of helping with screen time (mainly thinking about their break reminders), and Juxt already is okay in some ways (mainly thinking about a lack of infinite scrolling) All of them could and can be better but Juxt needs it the most
Especially given that it targets users on devices where users typically don't think about screen time and addiction LESS SO than devices where users do. That isn't their fault of course but it is their consequence
it does feel like juxt/miiverse can become addictive with all the UI stuff and sounds, so I support your statement
and the reactions from people coupled with the scrolling (which isn't infinite, but it kinda counts)
To my knowledge the sounds are not in their control; that comes from the app itself instead of the UI Pretendo has made
correction: the sounds no longer count
though, I do wonder about Hatena's involvement...
probably nothing, so we can both agree on that there should be at least some features on addiction (or something like that)
