You need to go into the Lost Woods and go into the entrances where you can hear the Music the loudest.

get the hookshot and go to the lost woods to enter the forest temple

you should visit Kakariko Village, maybe check the gravedigger's hut

Do Saria's song every time you beat a dungeon. Don't talk to Saria, talk to Navi. He'll say a thing or two about where to go. He's your Codec for the adventures onward.

you need to come back to kokori forest if i remember...

go to kakariko to the graveyard and get the hookshot, then after go to the lost woods to do the forest temple. the hookshot is needed to reach the temple but also very useful incase you run out of arrows for the boss fight, atleast for my first experience playing this masterpiece
