If the screen doesn't work at all - that may be an issue. If you can still see the screen and touch it, it should be fine. Most Wii U system functions depend on the GamePad, like settings, the Mii Maker, etc.

i'm sorry but you can't set up your wii u without A gamepad i think there is a pc app that emulates gamepad (Vanilla) probably search vanilla wii u

i think its linux and maybe android exclucive tho

I believe Vanilla has not yet released - there are some older apps that don't work as well, but Vanilla probably won't come out until after the next MattKC video.

as long as you can see whats on the screen and the touchscreen works, you should be fine if not i'll be on the lookout for next mattKC vid

OK i bought it and the digitizer works, but the lcd is shattered. i can still tap stuff but i can barely see it (artefacts at top of screen help)
