Ok don't judge me, I'm quite new to splatoon, but is there any sort of way to play splatoon with my pro controller instead of the motion controls on the wii u gamepad? I think it is so hard playing with them or maybe I'm just bad lol

afaik there isnt a way to use the pro controller in online battles but to disable motion controls go to the settings button on the gamepad then you can disable it
I'm pretty sure there's an app on hacked Wii U's that let's you customize controllers, but I'm not too familiar. What I will say is that motion controls need a lot of time to get used to, and can be pretty demanding of your wrists, so I won't blame you for turning them off.
That being said, if you do go through with getting good at motion controls, they give you way more freedom than purely stick controls will. But like I said, it can be demanding on your wrists, so I would consider your options on what you'd rather push towards.
The motion controls in Splatoon 1 are better than any newer game in the series, the gamepad is comfortable, and stick aim puts you at a disadvantage. Once you get past the learning curve, it should be smooth sailing.

I'm pretty sure there's a homebrew app out there that can do that. But what you CAN do is disable Motion Controls by going into the settings. This will change the R stick to control the camera instead.
