I would just reccomend that you browse UU for stuff
checkpoint for saving your games, anemone for adding custom themes and badges, and netpass so you can get streetpass tags over the internet. also if you already have h-shop, download the premium upgrades for miitopia. premium miitopia plus netpass is S0 fun, 10+ minigames
Check on universal-updater for good homebrew. For games, you gotta try CTGP7 :D
Definitely give DS games a try with Twilight++. I've been hooked on Kirby Superstar Ultra!

hshop has all officially released games. you can also scan qr codes with fbi to download games on r/3dsqrcodes
Wumiibo is amazing it allows you to load specific amiibos for those games and they function like amiibo!
