yoo awesome!! here's a few: the way your character looks is based on the answers you give rover, so i recommend looking up a guide! you unlock amiibo villagers 3-5 days after becoming mayor iirc, and you can use wumiibo to get villagers you want!

the happy home showcase, as well as special amiibo villagers [ones you can get by scanning in nintendo amiibos, like splatoon or tloz ones] and non-villager characters in your campsite [like Pascal or Nat] are good ways to get furniture!

You should try animal crossing welcome luxury :D

make sure to hit your rocks everyday and shake your trees :] you will see an odd looking fruit on one of your trees with a different color than the rest of the fruit, thats a perfect fruit and i would advise planting those :]

EVADE your TAX

Try making as much Bells as possible via selling things at Re-Tail! (If you want, I can add you as a Best Friend and give you some once support is added!) Also, you could try completing all of your badges on your TPC card (It's super hard)!

Try upgrading your shops to the max size by purchasing stuff everyday at them! Also, everyday, hit all of the rocks in your town using a shovel, as one of them everyday is a money rock!

If you shake trees, some will drop bells. Be careful some will drop a bee hive. Try to catch the bee with your net and collect the hive to sell at Re-tail.
