man why is ds wifi such a pain. i just wanna play pokemon platinum and here i am fighting linux at 11 pm for a solution that may or may not work

Yeah, Nintendo DS has outdated wifi compatibility so apparently many new routers don't work for the DS anymore. You'd have to use an old router or hotspot (w/out password) I think.
as the other person said, use a phone or windows pc hotspot. it has to be passwordless wpa not wpa2. you dont need to use your mobile data either, just keep connected to the internet on it. this also works on other things, like the psp.
