How's your multiplayer experience in MH3U? Have you tried to play on a private MH servers using VPN?

Im personally torn between using the private method and waiting for pretendo to get around to it, since I don't know if the two will interfere with one another and Pretendo seems like the more active option
Personally I'm holding out hope Pretendo will get MH3U (WiiU) online functionality working since private server severely limits organic room-browsing. The one benefit VPN/Tunneling has is that it technically allows the 3DS version to have online play without the WiiU application.
