2. Unity Not good as devkitpro.Uses C#. Good for games. Only for Windows. 3. Lovepotion Good for games. Uses LUA. For whatever with a text editor.
Downsides: devkitpro is very complicated to use (C#). Only for Linux Unity is very poorly optimized. Cannot create online games. Only for Linux. Lovepotion apps/games cannot be played on emulators. Hard to install the games and complicated to use.
In some words: If you know C# and have a Linux computer use devkitpro. If you have only a Windows computer use Unity. If you know Lua and create games for only consoles use Lovepotion. If you are a Mac user... Sorry.
I use Unity for my 3DS games because I only know C# and Python and only have a Windows computer.
