So, my 3DS is in a weird state where it only loads a small amount of apps on the home menu, and freezes when I try to open any program (Not that it matters, though. My 3DS' touchscreen and the L and R buttons broke a long time ago...)

Maybe delete junk apps from your sd card? I had a similar issue with apps crashing (pretty colors on-screen) maybe manually update your cfw.
