So, I've been seeing a lot of screenshots on this community featuring players with the unused playable octoling character, and this makes me nervous to play the game since last I checked, they can cause a game ending glitch if they appear in your plaza. Is this still an issue?

Nintendo patched that out when they still supported the game, and in doing so made it to where you can't see other players as octolings without a mod like RivalUnpatch if you're on an unmodded game
