The 3DS version of Minecraft is sometimes laggy, and limiting, but it's Minecraft, and Minecraft is fun, so I'd say if you're alright with it being laggy, having a low chuck render distance, a low mob limit, and whatever else, then sure, but it's best to keep the limits in mind.

And it's probably better to just play on your phone, but if you want a old version feel, (as the game hasn't been updated in a long time,) I don't see a reason not to.
