What kind of ipod? The touch versions were good and can probaby still be homebrewed.

the iPod 4th is the best for ios 4-6 and the 1st and 2st gen for ios 2-4 and you can install tethered ios 7 on ipod 4th i swear its on internet

i have a ipod mini 1st gen and its great and surprisingly doesnt have that bad of battery life after somewhere in between 20–25 years but id always prefer games over music, i love the ipod brick game

think of it like this: can you play gret games like mk8, and mc on an ipod. now if you are thinking of an ipod touch then idk how to help you :/
