splatoon honestly does have potential to be released on the 3ds consoles if you ask me. The 3ds has motion controls, so does the wii u, it also has a stylus, supported online services, not to mention double screens just like the wii u gamepad. thats just me though. how about you?

Well, mine idea was just 3ds as wii u gamepad, top screen as TV screen and bottom as Wii U gamepad screen
im pretty sure the reaon that it didnt come out was because the 3ds couldnt handle the ink properly + other reasons
maybe a cut down version could've released on the N3DS, or a spinoff. It would've been really cool to see. OG 3DS definetly wouldn't've been able to handle it though imo.
tbh i think it would be way too much to handlemaybe if they made a more powerful3DS but the 3DS we have now a game like splatoon would destroy it lol
considering even the wii u lags while playing, i dont think a 3DS port would be possible
