Finished setting up all pokémon games on my 3DS from gens 1→7. I've only ever played Gen 6 (X & AS) but I lost the games :( What game should I play first?

I got distracted by the DNS exploit. I'm trying to find a way to get DS mode to connect to wifi for gen 4 mystery gifts. Than I will plobably play pokemon Yellow.
