Make sure the Miis in question both hang around the wrong Islanders and spend less time with each other. Don't think this works on Miis that are Married.

Set them to be related to you in a way that doesn't allow a relationship (e.g. siblings) then once they r no longer together, change it back. i'm like 90% sure this works
