yeah, i think it mainly has do do with spotpass since a pretendo dev said that
A way you can temporarily resolve this issue is deleting shared save data for Splatoon. This data contains server info like the news. If there is a desync, it will treat you as if you are offline. Deleting this will cause the game to make another. (It should be 23 MB large.)
Keep care to ensure you do not delete your personal data, which is why I gave the size of it out. Go to Data Management and look for your game wherever it is installed. Select this, then look for Shared Data. Delete this and you should be able to play for a few map rotations.
On rare occasions, Pretendo may see you offline if Splatoon has this desync. To temporarily resolve this, simply do the step above then delete your wifi connection in settings, re-add it then restart your Wii U. I hope this helps you! Happy splatting!!
