tbh with you ... you can have fun with it as long as you have all the wiimotes and the friends for it xD I am not a big fan of it myself because the lack of maps but when I have a gathering my friends have a blast with it ... idk I think its all about perspective

I say it's fun. It's just way more mindless than the 64 or GC or Switch games. If you don't mind the lack of depth or just want 5 player games, It's perfect.
