i've got a big issue with this game. I am a Level 2, and I began playing 3 days ago. The issue is that to access the shop, you need to be Level 4. BUT, because there is only just ever enough players to even begin a game, I get spawncamped and slaughtered by Level 30 to 50 players

(2) I actually did the maths, and I only need to win 3-4 matches, but because I'm always on teams who lose awfully (8% vs 72%, 33% vs 57%, etc), I need to lose TWELVE matches to get from Level 4 to where I am now, which is clearly incredibly demotivating.
(3) I am also not implying that it is my team members creating our losses - it is very likely to be me.

Painting 400 points per match gives you more exp. Prioritize painting the map center to restrict the enemy team. Don't get into fights if you aren't near your ink and some teammates. With Splat Jr. you want to paint a lot, spam bombs and get lots of bubbler shields for teammates.
