This is my little brother favorite game to play on the wiiu! I wonder if the online will ever work in the future.

Unfortunately unlikely since afaik external (non-nintendo) servers were used for online multiplayer, and Pretendo only serves as a Nintendo Network replacement.
origin servers are down only MWO is possible on PC
