requirements: a Wii U modded with aroma sdcafiine plugin Rival Unpatch plugin SplatHeX SaveMii

things to note: -shops softlock you, change back to inkling to buy stuff -you will appear as a female inkling to those who don't have the rival unpatch plugin -hair is too beeg for most hats, expect clipping

step one: Download Rival Unpatch on Gamebanana. Go to your SD Card and copy the contents of rivalunpatch_wiiu_v3 to the root.

step two: go to SaveMii, pick Wii U Save Management, pick Splatoon, pick Backup savedata, pick any slot, pick whichever user you use, and press A to backup. wait for the backing up to finish.

step three: Install SplatHeX from Github. open the application with the Wii U's SD Card in your PC. Click on File, click Open, go to the root of your SD Card, click "backups", find Splatoon's title id (varies depending on region), and find save.dat

step four (1/2): go to Player Editor, and change gender to "octoling". Do not change anything else, we're simply becoming an Octoling for the cosmetic. click "file" and "save as". if you're worried about something going awry, copy your original save.dat and keep it somewhere safe

step four (2/2): In "Save As", go to the splatoon title id folder and replace save.dat.

step five: put the SD Card into the Wii U. open SaveMii again. pick Wii U Save Management, pick Splatoon, pick RESTORE data, pick the slot you saved the backup to, pick your user, and press a to restore.

step six: open Splatoon. you should now be playing as an Octoling! enjoy!

ADDENDUM Thanks to the Anti-Crash plugin on Gamebanana, you can now use the shops and Battle Dojo as an Octoling!

I tried this. Now im stuck with a 150-3032 error code each time i boot up the game.

im not sure what that error code means, but after some scrolling around it seems to have something to do with mod file conflict??? i would just ask the pretendo discord server to be safe, and if all else fails you can use a reskin mod instead
