Pretendo just introduced a new way to get StreetPass, and it's called "StreetPass Relay". they even sent a notification to your 3DS detailing about it!

yeah but doesn't netpass already exist?
you have to open the NetPass app in order to get StreetPasses, which somewhat defeats the entire concept of StreetPass-ing: put your 3DS to sleep mode and wander around
