You should buy a USB key that has a great storage capacity if you don't have one already so that you can downoald a good amount of games However once you plug it into your Wii U do NOT remove it, otherwise your Wii U might try to delete all of it's content

*usb drive, usb keys are for identifying yourself in certain places like websites (they can work as passwords) and cannot store data, i would recommend a HHD with at least 1TB, please do keep in mind that the wii u's back usb ports (wich are made for external memory)

dont provide enough energy for an HHD, so you either need an Y cable (a cable that has an single input, and 2 outputs, allowing you to connect an device trough 2 usb ports) or have it externally powered, please do keep in mind that if you use the second method or use a simple

usb stick, you cannot use 2 of them at the same time, even tough the wii u console has 2 usb inputs, they are only for the Y cable method, but yeah, besides using some good 'ol external memory, you dont really need much more,

unless you wanna play some specific games, want multiplayer or want an wired internet connection, additional accessories will be required, oh and if you wanna mod your wii u or want some extra memory on the vWii (Virtual Wii), you will also need an SD card, 64GB will do,

i would reccomend an micro SD one with an addapter because not every pc (wich is required for modding) support normal SD cards, also if you do want vWii access, you will need an wii remote. also reguarding the removing the external memory thing, its safe to ramove as long as

would recommend getting a white wii u. some of the black deluxe ones were distributed with a hynix brand memory card, which have a much higher chance to fail than other cards. not all black Wii Us are hynix, but white ones will never have hynix so its a safer bet
