i keep thinking of a 2ds xl that can detach its head (top screen) but after watching an ifixit teardown i realized the screen needs to connect with the motherboard with a thick yellow tape (inwhich i dont think that can be split) which could make it hard.

That "thick tape" is called a ribbon cable, it have dozens of tiny wires inside and it's very fragile (i accidentally broke many of them when repairing devices)
