Fun fact: Nintendo made a console that you might of never heard of. Made in 1995 Japan the Nintendo BS-X Satellaview was a cartridge that you place on the Super Famicom which uses a satellite that would let you install DLC. The Console ran until 1995-2000 and remained unknown!
