Helpful tip for Mario Kart 7 & 8 (Deluxe) - Spamming L or ZL (The button you press to throw items) while an item box is rolling will give you your item faster! So helpful when a Red Shell is coming your way! (I'm not 100% sure if this applies to MK8)
