Super Mario fun fact #4 Wario was never a character in the Mario franchise, despite everybody believing so. Upon being asked about Wario, Shigeru Miyamoto asked who Wario was, and the rest of the team also did not know. It seems Wario was a mass hallucination.

Super Mario fun fact #3 Mario is canonically Jesus, this is seen in Super Mario Galaxy, where he can walk on water using the ice flower power up. He also got crucified, as seen in a cutscene in Mario is missing, he has not been seen in a mainline game since.

Super Mario fun fact #2 Mario and Luigi are actually the same person, this was confirmed by Miyamoto when he said "Mario and Luigi are actually the same person." This suggests that that Mario and Luigi are actually the same person. Nintendo doesn't want you to know this.
