Does anyone know how to get streetpass working on this game, or do you have to unlock it in game?

you must play enough until the game mentions streetpass. you need 2 hours of playtime

Just so you know I have tried buying some streetpass data on netpass, but it doesn't show up, so I think I have to unlock it.
