do i get a normal 3ds or xl? not the new ones. im upgrading from a DSi.

get the xl, it's bigger, has a built in amiibo reader, and a few more reasons
a new 2ds xl is much better than both and is pretty cheap
if you dont want the new then just get xl
Hey! Current New XL user here. (Since July of 2016.) Personally, Go for it. If you don't want handcramps, that is.

the xl is definitely the way to go, the only downside is its less portable
BIGGER IS BETTER
base 3DS sucks. get N3/2DSXL, we have the option for it now no point in the old 3/2ds/XL models. the 3DS XL was the only one that was cheap enough for me to get at the time.
